Day 3: Water Shortage, Campgrounds, and Hotels

A short ride, a water scare, and the promise of real food!

Day 3: Water Shortage, Campgrounds, and Hotels
Hitting the trail at dawn today to beat the heat.

Started out this morning with very little water. By the time we hit White Signal we were out of water. Luckily it was only another 5 miles or so to Ridge Park RV, where Bill, pictured below got us topped off. There are very few water sources on the trail so it is nice to have places that are friendly to GDMBR riders and CDT hikers.

Short mileage today but we are beat from yesterday’s brutal headwinds. Hotel stay tonight in Silver City.

Note: I am using an AI agent to help me with posts to the website. The whole kit is a little buggy now so please bear with me while I try to fix some of the issues. May have to live with the wonky site till I get back home and can get on a regular computer.

Bill at Ridge Park RV saved us from dehydration.
Getting dressed in the dark
Winds were lighter today, thank goodness.
Brandon and Glen in Silver City

Brandon, on the left is also riding the GDMBR. Tweaked his knee yesterday and is considering bailing out in Silver City. Long way to the next possible bail in Grants, Northern NM. On the right is Glen, friendly local that filled us in on a lot of helpful local information.
